LBDL Finals
Even though many teams got eliminated during their quest for the LBDL championship, two teams were left standing but only one would stand out to claim the LBDL title. For the 3rd time this season the Walden Warriors went up against the Garson Celtics. The 1st half was dominated by the Warriors. With Scott Fleury heating up early in the game and the Warriors doing a good job reaching for the defensive rebounds, the score at the end of the 1st half reflected the way they played as they went up by 10 points.
Knowing what was on the line, the Garson Celtics came out after halftime fired up. After a couple of minutes in the second half the Warriors felt the momentum shift as they found themselves trading leads with the Celtics. With the Warriors and the Celtics exchanging baskets, both teams turned to their leaders to make the big plays. Scott Fleury and Connor Boyce controlled the tempo on the Warriors' side while Evan Spurrell and Jon Page did the same for the Celtics. As the game hit the 2 minute mark, the Celtics were able to get some defensive stops followed by a lucky 3 point shot hit by Jon Page to give them the lead. With the Warriors unable to get it together at crunch time, they missed a couple of clutch free-throws to give this one away 65-60.

Congratulations to the Garson Celtics. LBDL Champions!!

Big Win For The Suns
Tuesday June 9th. The Ramsey Lakers faced the South End Sonics. Both teams started the game with low intensity, but by halftime the tempo picked up, the players got aggressive and the Lakers had a 6 point lead. As the second half got started, the South End Sonics did not waste any time to go to work. As they were playing hard aggressive defense and capitalizing on the fast break, the points started piling up for the Sonics. The Ramsey Lakers tried to come back into this one by testing out a full court press. As the Lakers started to slowly get back into the game, the Sonics hit a couple of 3 point shots to end it.
Coming from a 2 games losing streak, the Walden Warriors went up against the New Sudbury Hornets. With easy penetration by the Warriors' guards, the Hornets found themselves down 11 at the break. With the hornets still letting the Warriors attack the basket in the second half, they never gave themselves a chance to make a comeback. the Warriors took this one 87 to 62.
The last match up of the night was a battle between the Garson Celtics and the Valley Suns. In the 1st half we saw a display of "showtime" moves by the Celtics countered by a display of lay-ups by the Suns. By halftime, the Celtics were up by 1 point. As the second half got going, the determination to win the game kept growing for the Suns. With the Celtics not realizing the momentum shift, they found themselves in a bad position coming close to the last 2 minutes of the game. Unable to knock down clutch free throws and having to foul the other team, the Celtics were down 3 points with 3 seconds to go. With the Celtics missing a half court shot to go into overtime, the Suns captured their biggest win of the season.

Overtime Win After A Tough Loss For The Celtics
With the playoffs approaching, every team is trying to make a final push to go into the post-season with momentum going their way. After losing their 1st game vs. the Sudbury Hornets, the Garson Celtics tried to redeem themselves matching up against the Walden Warriors. With both teams showing a great effort on defense, this may have been a low scoring game but it was certainly played with a high level of intensity. The Weldon Warriors were up 29 to 24 at the half. They did a good job keeping a convincing lead until the end of the game. The Celtics started executing a full court press. With the Warriors not being able to take care of the ball, the Celtics came back and forced this game to go into overtime. The Celtics got their share of defensive stops and they connected at the other end of the floor while the Warriors were struggling to make a basket. 71 to 65 for the Garson Celtics were the final score of this game.
Next up was the Valley Suns vs. the South End Sonics. Both teams showed lots of pride and perseverance during this game. With the South End Sonics up 2 points at half, this one stayed close all game. The Suns did a good job scoring in the paint during the whole game but the Sonics were able to get some stops and knock down some dagger threes down the stretch as they took this one 81 to 71.
Later on the Ramsey Lakers and the New Sudbury Hornets went face to face. Brandon Picco did a great job keeping his team into the game knocking down shots at will. But the hornets had something else going for them. With nice ball movement and everybody on the roster making a contribution on the score sheet, the Hornets were up at half. In the Second half the Ramsey Lakers dominated the offensive board giving them a chance to take over the game. In the end, the hornets were able to control the tempo of the game and score on the free throw line.

Valley Suns Capture Their 1st Win!
After taking a week of rest, the LBDL picked up where it left off. Even though road construction held up the traffic, it didn't stop the South End Sonics to match up against the Garson Celtics. With great effort on the defensive end of the floor, Cody Lozier collected a couple of key steals that helped the Sonics to grab a 23 to 21 lead at the half. With no sign intimidation, the Celtics dominated the second half. Running the fast break to perfection and holding it down on the defensive end, the Celtics proved once again that they are a force to be reckoned with. Scoring 39 points in the second half and keeping their opponent to 30 points, the Celtics were shook in the 1st half but were able to take this one 60 to 53.
For the second time this season, the Walden Warriors went face to face vs. the Ramsey Lakers. With both teams exchanging baskets in the 1st half, it was inevitable that this game was going down to the wire. The Warriors earned most of their buckets in the paint scoring in transition and driving through the lane. Liam Doyle had a great 1st half showing off a lay-up clinic. Meanwhile, the Lakers earned most of their points shooting 3 pointers. Jason Picco and Evan Lielkains kept their team in the game knocking down 3 point shots. Coming out with the same aggressive mentality in the second half, the warriors dominated the paint. With the Lakers finding it a little harder to knock down the shots they had in the 1st half, they dug themselves a whole and couldn't make the final push to comeback in the last couple of minutes in the game.
Later on, the Valley Suns showed their competitiveness to the New Sudbury Hornets. The Hornets were doing a good job passing the ball and knocking down open jumpers, but the Suns weren't going to be outplayed so easily. Making tough baskets coming off strong drives, they kept it close at the half. With both teams exchanging leads coming close to the 2 minute mark, the Suns felt something special happening that night. Down the stretch, the Hornets committed crucial turnovers and the Suns were able to capitalize on the free-throw line. As the game clock counted down to zero, the scoreboard announced a 73 to 70 victory for the Valley Suns.

Final 1st Round Action
With the 1st round of the season coming to an end, all the teams gave it their all to give some excitement to the league with 3 games that went down to the wire. The Garson Celtics went up against the Valley Suns. With both teams going to war in the 1st half, the Celtics were thinking they were going to go up big at the half, but the perseverance of the Suns allowed them to only go down 4 points at the half vs. the undefeated Celtics. Both teams played hard in the second half, but with Evan showing his quick hands on the defensive end and making shots down the stretch, the Celtics collected another win and made a statement to all the other teams in the league.
The south End Sonics came out in the 1st half hitting hard vs. the Ramsey Lakers. Dean Falconi showed off his speed running the fast break and finishing his contested lay-ups. As the halftime buzzer went off, the Ramsey Lakers were down by 4 points. During the second half, both teams went to war exchanging blows at both ends of the floor. With the awaking of Shane Bailorgeon-Blouin and Brandon Picco, the Ramsey Lakers kept this one close all the way to the end of the game. But with the Sonics controlling the tempo and making free-throws, they were able to leave with a win.
Last but not least was an interesting game between the New Sudbury Hornets and the Walden Warriors. With the whole team making a contribution on the offensive end of the floor, the Hornets scored 43 points in the 1st half. The Warriors found themselves down but certainly not out. After an ankle injury that occurred early in the second half, Scott Fleury came back on the floor to battle like a real Warrior would. With this fired up Warrior team taking the lead late in the second half, the Hornets found themselves with their heels against the wall. During the last minute of the game free throws by Walden were hit and clutch shots from the Hornets were missed. This gave the Walden Warriors a 67 to 66 win over the Sudbury hornets

Celtics Remain Undefeated!!
The night started off with the Ramsey Lakers facing the Sudbury Hornets. The Hornets went down double digits early in the 1st half, but with help from Alex Boissoneault, they were able to bring it back to 8 points at halftime. In the second half, the Hornets attempted to make a comeback however, easy buckets in the paint from Christopher-James helped the Lakers to rack up another win. Due to injuries and missing players, the Walden Warriors weren't 100% to go up against the Garson Celtics. Giving no mercy to the amputated team, Josh Martin had a great game scoring inside, grabbing rebounds and even pushing the ball up the floor. Going into the last game of the 1st round, the Garson Celtics remain undefeated.
Next up, the Valley Suns walked in to face the South End Sonics. With both teams exchanging baskets in the 1st half, the Suns kept this one close with the Sonics going up 9 points at the break. The second half was a different story. With the Sonics making adjustments on the defensive end, and a solid offensive performance by Carson Barr, the South End Sonics capture their 3rd win in 4 games.

Day 3
Going into day 3 of the season, the Valley Suns tried to capture their 1st win vs. the Ramsey Lakers. With a couple of nice shots by Matthew Palys, the Lakers took a rest at halftime with a commanding lead. With the hustle of Joel Therrien and Colin Chilett, the Suns tried making a final push to make it a comeback, but the Lakers held their composure to take this game 70 to 44. Game 2 was the South End Sonics vs. the Walden Warriors. The Sonics walked in the gym with fire in their eyes trying to take down the Warriors early in the game. Even with the help of Connor Boyce showing off his offensive skills and showing everybody in the gym what it is to play good aggressive defense, the Warriors went down 9 points at the half. In the second half, South End Sonics couldn't seal the deal. The Warriors fighting their way back into the game made it interesting during the last 2 minutes. But thanks to the Domination in the post of Carson Barr and Caleb Yanchuk the Sonics ran away with the win.
Game 3 was the Sudbury Hornets vs. the Garson Celtics. With a solid contribution of the whole roster, the Hornets tried to keep this game close. They did a good job in the 1st half going down only 8 points at the half. The second half was a different story. The immovable force of Emilio Frometa in the post was the story of this game as the Garson Celtics took this one looking forward to playing their next opponent.

LBDL : Day 2 Matchups
As day 2 of the LBDL got going, the Walden Warriors had 1 thing on their mind, to come up with their 2nd victory vs. the Ramsey Lakers. With great plays by Scott Fleury, the Warriors took the 8 point lead at the break. But the Lakers came out firing in the second half. Forcing turnovers executing near perfect defense and connecting at the other end of the court with a couple of three pointers by Jason Picco, the Lakers walked out of the gym victorious with the win over the Warriors. Up next there was the New Sudbury Hornets vs. the Valley Suns. With both teams exchanging leads in the 1st half, it was hard to tell who was going to come out of this one on top. The Hornets down 2 points at the half made it obvious that they were the team with more determination to win the game. The leadership of Kurt Westhaver and Sean McDonald gave the Hornets their 1st win of the season. These events were followed by the showdown between the South End Sonics and the Garson Celtics. Young point guard Tyler Lozier tried keeping his team into the game, but the Sonics' baskets were countered by easy buckets inside by the Celtic's Big men. As the Garson Celtics took this game, they solidified their status as one of the hottest team in the LBDL.

LBDL : Let The Excitement Begin
Kids from all over the city showed off their moves and athleticism to give the first day of LBDL some life. May 5th, at 6 o’clock was the tip. The first game of the triple header was the South End Sonics vs. the New Sudbury Hornets. The Sonics came out with some solid defensive rebounding from their big men and some great execution on the offensive end with the guards running the fast break. The hornets down 15 points at the half gave a good effort trying to get back in the game getting their share of defensive stops and knocking down shots. But the defense of the Sonics held the Hornets to 47 points and led them to their first win. Next up was the Ramsey Lakers vs. the Garson Celtics. After the half, with the Celtics thinking they have an easy victory up 16 points, the Ramsey Lakers showed some determination cutting the lead to single digits, but the Celtics did not let themselves get played and came out with the victory. The last game of the LBDL was a fierce battle between the Walden Warriors and the Valley Suns. Even though the Suns came out with aggressiveness and intensity, the Warriors showed that their athleticism was not going to be denied going up 20 at the break. The second half started off with both teams exchanging buckets, but the Suns suffered a loss to the Warriors executing flashy plays getting the crowd into the game.

Ramsey Lakers are the 2008 Sostarich, Ross, Wright & Cecutti LBDL Champions!
Sudbury, Ont. The Ramsey Lakers played the Garson Celtics in the finals last night and it was a great game. The Lakers jumped out to a big early lead by rebounding and pushing the ball up the court for many fast break buckets. Leading by as much as 23 points in the first half it looked as though they would cruise to victory. The Celtics had something else in mind though. Increasing their defensive intensity and driving to the basket with relative ease, the Celtics brought the score back to a respectable 10 point lead for the Lakers at half time. The second half the Celtics continued their comeback and took a 1 point lead at 47-46. Great action back and forth with some big shots being made at both ends. The Lakers, with 2 minutes remaining started to play the way they had to get the big lead and turned the momentum back in their favour. The Celtics began fouling hoping for some missed foul shots but the Lakers stepped up and knocked them down when it counted. Congratulations to the Ramsey Lakers: Emilio Frometa, Ryan Urban, Nicholas Jakelski (injured), Shane Bailorgeon-Blouin, James Paquin, Elliot Tilleczek, William Tilleczek, Kurt Westhaver, Matthieu Depatie and coached by Bryan Davidson.

NBA finals rematch in the LBDL Championship game!
Sudbury, Ont. The Garson Celtics were the first team to book their ticket to the Championship game. The Walden Warriors seemed to be hurting from the bye week and took a bit of time to get back in to form. The Celtics peppered the Warriors from the inside and out. The second half the Warriors came back strong with some good moves from Eric Giommi and Micheal Stevens. The Celtics though in the end held them off with their trade mark collective effort from all players. They once again showed that team work pays off. Eric Guy Lavergne Giroux and the rest of the Celtics are hoping to be the first team to hoist the LBDL Championship trophy! The Lakers went into their semi-final game hoping to follow the Celtics into the finals and a repeat match up of their parent league the NBA. The Sonics battled hard with Jonathan Kpazai knocking down a three and getting a few steals with full court pressure. The Lakers seemed a bit bothered to start the game but continued to play solid defense. A few fast break points and team rebounding helped the Lakers create a solid lead at half time. The second half the Sonics picked up full court and forced the Lakers into some sloppy turnovers. The Sonics, however, were unable to convert on their steals. The Lakers finally broke the press and finished with some easy buckets. Mathieu Depatie scored 10 consecutive points to put the game out of reach. The finals will be Thursday June 26th at 7:30pm. Lakers versus Celtics has the makings to be an instant classic.

Hornets come close to the upset and Garson cruises.
Sudbury, Ont. The playoffs started last night with the early game featuring the South End Sonics against the New Sudbury Hornets. The Hornets came out strong with Christopher Beckett-Brown hitting some turn around jumpers. The Sonics seemed to have trouble finding their legs. It seemed throughout the first half that a major upset was brewing. The Sonics finally settled down with some solid play from Jonathan Kpazai and Justin Sostarich. The Sonics took a 10 point lead into half time. The second half Matthieu Richer brought the Hornets back with great hustle and effort on the boards. They fell short of their goal though and the Sonics held on for the victory. The second quarter-final game featured the Garson Celtics against the Valley Suns. Garson jumped out of the gate fast with some great passing by Jon Page and Eric Guy Lavergne Giroux. Tanner Wharton had his best game of the year with some athletic finishes inside. The Suns trio of Petryna, Boisonneault and Sarmatiuk just couldn't penetrate the Celtics defense and get enough shots to fall. Eric Guy Lavergne Giroux and Brandon Picco finished the game off with a pair of threes. The Celtics are playing very well as a team at both ends of the court and are looking to match their name cousins the Boston Celtics with a LBDL Championship. The Semi Finals are set now with the Walden Warriors taking on the Garson Celtics at 6:30pm Tuesday June 24th. The Ramsey Lakers will take on the South End Sonics at 7:30pm on Tuesday June 24th.

Final regular season games finish up.
Sudbury, Ont. The last two regular season games were last night and were very important in seeding for the playoffs.
The Garson Celtics needed a victory over the New Sudbury Hornets to potential get a first round bye. Garson got off to a slow start but with Eric Guy Lavergne Giroux at the helm controlling the pace and knocking down jumpers the game was never in doubt. Each player contributed to the win at both ends of the floor. The Hornets battled hard even though there positioning for the playoffs was already solidified. Caleb Laaper played a good game with numerous rebounds, steals and lay-ups. Christopher Beckett-Brown stood in for only the third charge of the LBDL and his second. The Celtics will be pleased going into the playoffs after this victory.
The battle for first was fittingly the last game of the season. The Ramsey Lakers against the Walden Warriors. Walden started very well with Eric Giommi defending William Tilleczek well and he cleaned up most of the rebounds. Walden moved the ball well and built up a good half time lead. The Lakers couldn't find their range from the outside which they have been known to do. The second half was a completely different story. The shots started to fall from three for the Lakers with Shane Bailorgeon-Blouin and Ryan Urban leading the charge back. The Warriors answered back with consecutive outside jumpers from Baron Lappa. Tristan Ritchie grab a few important rebounds. The Lakers took the lead mid way through the second half with William Tilleczek finishing his powerful drives. Matthieu Depatie hit a bunch of tough shots to extend the Lakers lead. The tide then swung back in the Warriors direction with Giommi once again lead the way with different finishes around the rim. The Lakers were down three with 1 second left and ran an out of bounds play for Ryan Urban to tie it up. The shot bounce of the rim and the Warriors took the win and first place.

The push for playoff positioning continues!
Sudbury, Ont. The last full set of league games finished up last night. The Walden Warriors played a very solid game against the New Sudbury Hornets. Baron Lappa displayed all his skills with some good defense, solid passing and a few nice jumpers from the outside. Adam Lessard paced the Hornets with a few pull up jump shots and Dakota Goudreau mixed in some nice step back shots as well as some tear drop floaters! The Warriors though muscled their way to the win by rebounding well at both ends. Ramsey Lakers were looking to continue their win streak against the Valley Suns. Ryan Urban was dead on from outside with at least 5 three point shots. He also combined with Kurt Westhaver for their patented give and go play. Chris Petryna had his best night with some strong moves and soft touch around the rim. Justin Smal kept the Suns around with great hustle and nice passing. Matthew Palys knocked down a nice outside shot but it wasn't enough to get the upset. The Lakers are now undefeated in 5 games. The last game of the night had the Celtics battling the Sonics for potentially the 2nd seed. Conor Boyce paced the Sonics with some strong takes to the hoop and Ben Smith again showed great touch with a sweet jumper. Brandon Picco had the Celtics close with a couple of nice crossovers and three balls. Collin Chislett also drained a three and seemed to be hustling all over the court. The Sonics may have grabbed the 2nd seed with the win. We will have to wait for the make up games to determine the final standings.

Three games that went down to the wire!
Sudbury, Ont. The Ramsey Lakers faced the South End Sonics in the early game Tuesday and started the evening off on a great note. A well played game by both teams for the full 50 minutes. Justin Sostarich had some sweet moves and finishes going to his right and left hand(the jury is still out on whether he is a righty or a lefty!). Connor Boyce was his usual Tasmanian Devil self and looked to always be in the middle of the play. The Lakers had an eleven point lead at half. They relied on the hot hand of Kurt Westhaver and Ryan Urban yet again. Emilio Frometa rebound well and clogged up the key on defense very effectively. Shane Double B made sure the Sonics would fall short in their comeback. The Walden Warriors battled the Garson Celtics in the middle game and played yet another exciting game. Garson Celtics used great ball movement and solid rebounding throughout the game. Justin Cousineau dropped a few nice dimes for easy lay-ups. Jon Page followed suit with some nice assists to his Celtic teammates. The Warriors faught themselves for most of the game unable to get into a rythme(may have been getting used to a substitute coach). Blake Hinchberger was one player that was all over the place. He knocked down a few threes, had some nice assists and some big rebounds. Baron Lappa, back from the injury list, played hard and created a lot of space for his teammates. Zack Caverson knocked down a few nice jumpers to make it a close game. Michael Stevens caught fire for a bit also. It was all for not though as Eric Guy Lavergne Giroux sealed the victory for the Celtics with some smooth jumpers and steady play down the stretch. The third game of the night had a lot to live up to since the first two games had everyone on their feet. It definitely lived up to the pressure. The Hornets were looking for their second win in row and the Suns need the victory just as bad. The Suns went up by as much as 20 points in the second half only to see the Hornets buzz their way back with Christopher Beckett-Brown hitting some good shots in the post. Adam Lessard had a nice lay-up and Matthieu Richer started to grab some offensive rebounds for easy points inside. Dakota Goudreau found his teammates to keep the Hornets within striking distance. The Suns were too deep though and had big shots made by Chris Petryna, Matthew Palys. Alex Boissonneault took the wind out of the Hornets sail with crafty moves to the hoop. Very good night of basketball by all 6 teams. The play on the court has certainly improved since the first day.

Rained out
Sudbury, Ont. You would think that the poor weather we've been having wouldn't effect the LBDL but it finally has. Two games were rained out last night and will be made up before the playoff schedule starts. The Valley Suns still played their game versus the South End Sonics. It was a defensive battle with some great hustle and effort plays. The Valley Suns took a 2 point lead into half time after Curtis Sarmatiuk made some nice buckets with the help of Christopher-James Portelance (who may be the most fundamentally sound player in the LBDL). The Sonics battled back hard with some great defense by Jonathan Kpazai. He was a one man press with unofficially 10 steals on the game. Les Freres Alarie picked up their offensive scoring in the second half to secure the victory for the Sonics.

Overtime victory for the Hornets and amazing passing throughout Tuesdays games
Sudbury, Ont. The New Sudbury Hornets pulled out their first win of the season in exciting fashion. Down at the half they battled back with some big offensive rebounds and good outside shooting from Owen Vipond. It was just enough to beat the Sonics. The Hornets were up 5 with 30 seconds left when Joe Cameletti hit a bank three pointer which I didn't hear him call! They fouled quickly and the Hornets missed both foul shots to leave the Sonics with a chance to tie or win. They hoisted up a three point attempt that failed but the smallest player on the court came up with the biggest play of the game. Ben Smith standing all of his 4'8" grabbed the offensive rebound and calmly put it back for a tie game. Overtime was low scoring thanks to Chris Beckett-Brown, who came up with the first CHARGE of the league that helped the Hornets defend better in OT. Congrats to the Hornets on their first win. Game 2 of the night couldn't live up to the show the Hornets and Sonics put on but was still entertaining none the less. Walden, under their point guard Evan Lielkalns, jumped on the Suns early and often to win with relative ease. Evan had some great passes throughout the game and his unselfishness was good to see. Although he had the crowd screaming for him to shoot on numerous occasions. Alex Boissoneault had some sweet moves for the Suns and Jacob Carlos was often open for some nice baskets inside. Cody Lozier provided the defensive intensity for the Suns but the were out matched by the talented Warriors. The last game of the night was a preview of the NBA finals with the Celtics playing the Lakers. The Lakers took a 5 point lead into half and played consistent throughout the second half. The hot hand of Ryan Urban and power game of William Tilleczek was more than enough to seal the victory. Ryan Urban lit up the scoreboard with some great give and go moves with Kurt Westhaver. The Celtics had some solid defense from Brandon Picco. Jon Page distributed the ball well and some nice jumpers. Justin Cousineau grabbed the Lakers attention with a great no look pass for an easy two points. Well played game and both teams will be tough to play in the playoffs.

Game day 6 comes to end with a few surprises
Sudbury, Ont. In the first game of the night Garson Celtics almost blew an 18 point lead. The Valley Suns fought back hard and had a shot at the buzzer to steal the win. The Celtics played very well in spurts and knocked down some big buckets down the stretch. Ramsey Lakers were up against the New Sudbury Hornets and once again proved why they are considered the favourites to win the LBDL. The Lakers kept up their fine shooting form and controlled all rebounds. The Hornets gave a spirited effort but their last second shot wasn't enough to get the victory. The upset of the season so far came when the South End Sonics took down the first place Walden Warriors. The Sonics did a great job of getting everyone involved and played a good team game for the entire time. The Warriors struggle with the Sonics defensive pressure and suffered their 2nd loss of the season.

End of first round
Sudbury, Ont. The first round of the LBDL finished up last night in fine fashion. The first game of the evening matched the New Sudbury Hornets versus the Walden Warriors. The Warriors, coming off their first loss of the season, were in tough for most of the game. The Hornets were able to stay close with some good team play and some big shots from Caleb Laaper and Matt Richer. Blake Hinschberger pulled down some big offensive boards to sneak out the win. Game 2 of the night had two teams that were tied with 2-2 records. Ramsey Lakers took hold of the game fairly early with some great passes and defensive rebounding. The Valley Suns tried to match them bucket for bucket with some crafty moves from Curtis Sarmatiuk and Alex Boissonneault. Shane Bailorgeon-Blouin created some nice shots off the dribble while William Tilleczek cleaned up the boards on both ends of the floor. The collective hard work of the Lakers though pushed them through with a relatively easy win. The Garson Celtics and the South End Sonics capped the night with a well fought overtime game. The Sonics had an 11 point lead at half and looked to be in control. Joseph Cameletti hit three consecutive three point shots to extend their lead after half. The Celtics kept battling though and answered with two three point shots by Brandon Picco and another by Josh Martin. It came down to the wire and Jon Page hit a shot to take the game into overtime. Eric Guy Lavergne Giroux controlled the pace and helped secure the comeback victory for Garson. Both teams played well and it was a great game to watch. Day2
Sudbury, Ont. Game 1 last night saw the Sonics get their first win of the season. The Hornets again had some great opportunities to score but just couldn't knock down shots. Game 2 The Warriors continued their hot streak with an easy win over the Suns. The Warriors didn't wait until the last minutes this game though. They took a 13 point lead into half and continued the solid effort for second half. Game 3 Ramsey Lakers again showed why they will be tough to beat this year. The Celtics but up a good fight in the second half but it wasn't enough to over come the 21 point deficit at the half. Day 1
The LBDL started off with a blast last night and no I don't mean a blast from the construction on campus! The Valley Suns took the first game of the year. It was a 2 point game at half and was close throughout the second half. The final few minutes the Suns extended their lead with some great team defense and some niffty moves by Curtis Sarmatiuk on the offensive end. Garson Celtics hung on but were unable to contain the Suns down the stretch. Game 2 wasn't as close but well played on both sides. Ramsey Lakers took control fairly early in the game and continued with aggressiveness on both ends of the court. Kurt Westhaver held the hot hand for most of the game. While William Tilleczek took care of the defensive boards. The New Sudbury Hornets showed some great athleticism but just couldn't consistently score baskets. Game 3 may have been the best game of the night. A real barn burner. The South End Sonics took a 3 point lead in to half time but the Walden Warriors fought back hard matching the Sonics previous 8-0 run with a 8-0 run of their own to seal the victory.
