Sudbury, Ont. The Ramsey Lakers played the Garson Celtics in the finals last night and it was a great game. The Lakers jumped out to a big early lead by rebounding and pushing the ball up the court for many fast break buckets. Leading by as much as 23 points in the first half it looked as though they would cruise to victory. The Celtics had something else in mind though. Increasing their defensive intensity and driving to the basket with relative ease, the Celtics brought the score back to a respectable 10 point lead for the Lakers at half time. The second half the Celtics continued their comeback and took a 1 point lead at 47-46. Great action back and forth with some big shots being made at both ends. The Lakers, with 2 minutes remaining started to play the way they had to get the big lead and turned the momentum back in their favour. The Celtics began fouling hoping for some missed foul shots but the Lakers stepped up and knocked them down when it counted.
Congratulations to the Ramsey Lakers: Emilio Frometa, Ryan Urban, Nicholas Jakelski (injured), Shane Bailorgeon-Blouin, James Paquin, Elliot Tilleczek, William Tilleczek, Kurt Westhaver, Matthieu Depatie and coached by Bryan Davidson.
